Every clause in your contract gets scored on three things: whether it's legal under Australian law, whether it's fair, and whether it's written clearly. A clause can tick one box and fail another — so we check all three.
Legal Compliance — Does this clause meet Australian law, like the Fair Work Act? Clear pass or fail.
Fairness — Is this clause balanced between both sides, or is it one-sided against you? Scored 0–100.
Clarity — Is this clause in plain English, or buried in legal jargon meant to confuse? Scored 0–100.
Some questions about Contractam are asked frequently. We have compiled a list of the most common questions people usually ask us!
Contractam automatically classifies what type of contract it is (employment, rental lease, NDA, or consumer), reads every clause, scores each one, and generates plain-English explanations. You don't need to do anything — the analysis runs in the background and usually takes 3–5 minutes.
PDF, PNG, or JPG. Maximum file size is 50MB and up to 200 pages per contract. Text-based PDFs give the best results, but scanned contracts and images also work.
Most contracts take 3–5 minutes. Shorter documents (like a 5-page offer letter) are faster; longer or more complex ones can take a little more. You can close the tab and come back — your analysis keeps running and is saved to your account.
Every clause is checked on three things. Legal Compliance — does it meet Australian law (pass or fail). Fairness — is it balanced between both sides (scored 0–100). Clarity — is it written in plain English (scored 0–100). A clause can pass one and fail another, which is why we check all three.
Your first analysis is free and includes the full overview — your overall score, risk level, and how many issues were found at each severity. To see the clause-by-clause breakdown, negotiation scripts, and Ask Louis, you unlock the full report for $15.
These are the risk levels applied to every clause. Critical = breaks Australian law, must be changed. High = legal but heavily one-sided, worth negotiating. Medium = unclear or mildly unfair, worth reviewing. Low = fair and clear, nothing to do. Your "What to Fix" page groups them for you.
You pick the issues you want to raise, choose a tone (professional, friendly, assertive, or diplomatic), and pick a format (email, conversation guide, or both). Contractam generates a script that references your actual clause numbers and the relevant Australian law. You copy it and send it.
Yes — you can upload as many contracts as you want. Each new contract needs an available analysis (your first one is free, after that you purchase single analyses or a 3-pack bundle). Analyses don't expire, so you can save one for when you need it.
