Uncover early termination fees, auto-renewals, and built-in price hikes before they hit your budget.

Restrictive terms
Catch exclusivity clauses and restraints that limit who you can hire, buy from, or sell to.

Room to move
Understand your termination clause, required notice periods, and exactly what it costs to walk away early.

Priorities

See the biggest
risks first.

Every issue is ranked by severity: must change, should negotiate, or nice to have. The contract risk analysis explains the reasoning behind every ranking, so you know exactly where to focus.

How risks are prioritised

Compliance gaps
Clauses that fall short of your legal obligations under Australian law, and the potential penalty exposure that comes with them.

Financial exposure
Uncapped liability, broad indemnities, and hidden contractual obligations that could cost you the most if things go wrong.

Conflicting terms
Risks that only appear when combining clauses, like expected working hours that contradict a flat salary.

Missing protections
Crucial terms that should be in the agreement but aren’t, actively flagged so you don’t have to spot the gaps yourself.

By Industry

See it in a situation
like yours.

Every sector has its own contractual traps. Here’s what the contract review looks for in each.

Hiring casual staff or signing a commercial lease? Contractam checks pay rates against the relevant Award, and flags rent reviews, heavy make-good obligations and renewal option deadlines.

Engaging subcontractors or hiring site equipment? See who holds the liability when a job goes sideways, whether you owe super on their labour, and if equipment hire terms silently outlast the project.

Signing a new client’s services agreement? Spot uncapped liability, punishing 60-day payment terms, and clauses that transfer ownership of your work before the final invoice is even paid.

Bringing a new practitioner into your clinic? Check whether the arrangement looks like contracting or employment, who retains the patient list, and what restraints apply when they move on.

Sharing your IP with a developer or investor? Check your NDA covers the information you actually disclose, and that the IP in any code a contractor writes is assigned to your company.

The Reasoning

The reasoning behind
every issue.

A warning on its own isn’t enough. Every issue Contractam raises comes with clear reasoning, its legal basis and a severity rating, so you know what you’re dealing with.

What’s inside every alert

The clear reason
Understand why something is a problem in one or two simple sentences, not a paragraph of dense legal theory.

The law behind it
See the exact Act, Award or regulation it’s checked against, named in full, so you can look it up yourself.

The score
Legal compliance as a pass or fail, with fairness and clarity out of 100, so you see how far off the mark it is.

Follow-ups, answered
Still unsure? Ask Louis, your AI contract assistant, about any flag. He answers directly from your contract and the relevant law.

Negotiation

Negotiate with
clear priorities.

Contract negotiation goes better when you know exactly where to push back. Contractam separates fair terms from the ones that actually need a conversation.

Before you return to the negotiating table

What’s fair
Identify terms that meet the law and score well on fairness, so you don’t burn goodwill arguing over routine clauses.

What to question
Spot terms that conflict with the law or lean heavily in the other party’s favour, with the reasoning to push back.

Where to start
Every issue is ranked must change, should negotiate or nice to have, so you open with what matters and trade away the small stuff.

Test the “what-ifs”
Ask Louis, your AI contract assistant, “What if we cap liability at $50,000?” and he’ll explain what that change means for you. If it needs a lawyer, he’ll tell you.

FAQ

Questions before
your first review.

  • How much does a contract review cost?

It costs $47 per contract (GST included) with no subscription required. This includes the full analysis, a detailed report, and 10 questions for Louis, your AI contract assistant, about that specific document. If you review or draft contracts regularly, our All-in-one plan is $87 a month.

  • How long does the review take?

Most reviews are ready in minutes. Simply upload your document, and our system analyses every single clause before your report is ready to read.

  • Which contracts can I review?

Contractam is built specifically for agreements governed by Australian law. You can review employment contracts, contractor and subcontractor agreements, NDAs, supplier and service agreements, partnership agreements, and commercial or retail leases.

  • Which Australian laws does the review check against?

Each contract is evaluated against the specific legislation that governs it. For example, employment contracts are checked against the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), the National Employment Standards, and the relevant Modern Award. Supplier agreements are tested against the unfair contract terms rules in the Australian Consumer Law, and leases against your state’s retail lease laws.

  • Can AI review a contract?

Yes. Contractam’s AI reads every clause, cross-references it with Australian law, and scores it for fairness and clarity. However, it can only evaluate what is written on the page. It cannot account for outside context, such as verbal agreements, past business history, or how the work is actually performed.

  • Should I use AI contract review or hire a lawyer?

Use Contractam’s AI to understand exactly what is in your contract, spot the risks, and prepare for negotiations. Bring in a lawyer when a dispute arises, the commercial stakes are exceptionally high, or a decision relies on facts outside the document itself. If you ask Louis a question that needs a lawyer, he’ll tell you.
